Melanie Sarver

Bio
I'm a brand-new, shiny software developer, who has recently graduated from Codeup in San Antonio, TX. As they say, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!" I was brought here for the first time by my husband's Army career, and now, several moves later, we are back and here to stay! I'm very excited to put down some real roots and start writing my new story.
The purpose of this page is for you to get to know a little bit about me by checking out some of the projects that I've been working on. Some of the work you'll see is complete, and some of it is ongoing work in progress. I had virtually no coding experience a few months ago. If you'd like to see how I'm growing and changing, go poke around my GitHub!
Front-end || Back-end is a good question that I don't have a simple answer to. Five months ago my answer was whole-heartedly front-end. After all, I had the perseverance to get a Bachelor's in Graphic Design, so what else could I be? Then, I met Java, and found that I'm surprisingly attracted to the logic.

Portfolio

A simple web based calculator created using JavaScript with jQuery, CSS3, Bootstrap, and HTML.

A fully functioning version of the classic ‘80s memory game with a rainy day theme, created utilizing JavaScript, jQuery, Materialize, CSS3, and HTML.

Using HTML, CSS, jQuery, ajax, and the OpenWeatherMap API, I created a little weather web application that displays the three day forecast for San Antonio, TX. I also implemented Google Maps and a search bar, so that users can get the forecast for other locations.

A little side project I've been working on is a simple blackjack game. Originally based solely in JavaScript with jQuery to run on the console, I'm currently beginning to incorporate HTML and CSS to animate cards on the screen.

An exercise using JSON data to create a blog. If you would like to try it out, log in as Schnauzer, password: blog. A form will appear at the bottom allowing you to create a new blog post. As there is no back end functionality, it's strictly for fun and anything added will disappear when the page is refreshed.

Front-end developer for a Java based menu planner web application in a team environment, utilizing Spring Boot, Thymeleaf, Hibernate, JS, jQuery, CSS3, Materialize, and HTML5.
